The Promise Council is committed to removing barriers to learning because we believe all children deserve the opportunity to achieve success through education.

Fun Facts!
The Promise Council is made up entirely of volunteers. No one is paid.
13 schools have a Promise Council (ten in Unit 5 and three in District 87)
There is a Promise Council in all three high schools. High school students are active members of the councils.
In 2017, over 35% of the students in these 13 schools were low-income or qualified for free and reduced lunches. In some schools It was 75%.
Last year the Promise Council helped a family whose home had been in the path of gun fire. The children (jr high and grade school) were afraid to sleep in the house. Thanks to our volunteers, we raised enough money to help the family stay in a hotel for 2 nights while police finished the investigation and took down the crime scene tape.
Last year the Promise Council provided a family with coats, hats, boots and mittens. The children did not have any of those items after moving here from another city.
